New Year, New Goals

Well, my first complete year in the mission has officially ended. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction and one of sadness because it went by so fast. I believe that I learned more than in any other year of my life, nonetheless, I recognize more than ever that I lack much and that there is much to do.

Right now we are teaching an amazing family, the Barrios family. They are very strong people, proof of that is that the mother had her 7 children naturally and within the walls of her own home. She is expecting another that will pop out any day now, for that reason she hasn't been able to attend church with us yet, but her husband and some of her children have attended and felt the spirit. Jose, the father, told us that for a long time he has been searching for the truth and is eager to find it. I have felt the spirit strongly in the lessons and believe that he will be a new convert very soon with his family. Their main obstacles have been the pregnancy and their work which is done for weeks at a time in Mexico... however, the Lord provides.

New Years Eve was similar to that of last year with it's fair share of fireworks, turkey, and, as always, tamales de carne. We had a great time with a few of the members here in San Rafael that gave us lots of great food.

I hope that you all have prayed for inspiration and put some concrete goals for this year. The atonement has always directed us forward and helped us to progress. The past is to be analyzed and learned from but never relived. que sigan adelante recordandose siempre de su meta eterna. La iglesia es lo mas verdadero que hay. Les amo muchisimo.              - Elder Davis
